About

I'm currently a Senior Haptics and Visualization Engineer at Hansen Medical, a medical robotics startup in Mountain View, CA.

I'm also a research fellow at the Robotics Lab, in the CS Department of Stanford University. I'm part of Professor Kenneth Salisbury's group (jks-folks). At Stanford I am also collaborating (or have collaborated) with Jean Claude Latombe, Gunter Niemeyer, and Mark Cutkosky (school of Engineering), Thomas Krummel, Nik Blevins, Sanjeev Dutta, Sabine Girod (Medical School), Bill Verplank (CCRMA), and Jeremy Bailenson (School of Communication). Other collaborators at Stanford who have relocated are Hong Tan (Purdue University) and Will Provancher (University of Utah).

Between 2002 and 2004 I was an assistant professor at the DII at the University of Siena. There I co-managed the haptics group and collaborated with Domenico Prattichizzo, Alberto Bemporad, and Antonio Vicino.

I was a Ph.D. student at PERCRO, Scuola Superiore S.Anna (Pisa), part of Professor Massimo Bergamasco's group. I still collaborate with the PERCRO folks from time to time, working on various projects. I spent about half of my PhD at the Stanford robotics lab as a visiting PhD student.
