Between 2004 and 2012 I went several times to Uzbekistan, but visiting Uzbekistan had not been my main purpose. See here. Instead, on this new trip I focused on Uzbekistan and I visited parts of the country that are somewhat off the main touristic circuits. I also visited two old friends, Boris and Slava, who live in Tashkent. In Soviet times, they went on many expeditions and exploration trips in the mountains of Central Asia. Between 2004 and now, I have benefited extraordinarily from their unparalleled knowledge of these mountains on the numerous trips I made to Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan. See here.

Most of the logistics for this trip (transportation, hotels, guides) were arranged by Advantour.
