Research

I was a member of the Stanford Vision Laboratory, working on content-based image retrieval, in particular, color- and texture-based retrieval.

My thesis title: Perceptual Metrics for Image Database Navigation.

In my thesis I develop the Earth Movers Distance (EMD) as a metric that has desirable properties for image retrieval. I also explore visualization methods, based on Multi Dimensional Scaling (MDS), for navigating in spaces of images by perceptual means.

For an overview of my research see the Slides .

I have ad a Color-Based Retrieval Demo that shows a retrieval system that can retrieve color images by using my research ideas.

I also share my Code for the Earth Movers Distance (writen in C).
