It aims, in particular, at fostering the cooperation among practitioners and theoreticians of the field. IRREGULAR'97, to be held at the University of Paderborn, Germany, on June 11--13, 1997, is the fourth in the series, after Geneva, Lyon, and S. Barbara. TOPICS Papers are solicited in all research areas related to the parallelism of irregular problems, including, but not limited to: * algorithms and model * applications * approximation and randomization * automatic program synthesis * combinatorial optimization * compiling * imagery * load balancing * memory management * parallel data structures * scheduling and mapping * sparse matrices * symbolic computation * tree-structured computations PUBLICATION Proceedings are to be published in the Springer-Verlag series Lecture Notes in Computer Science. Extended versions of selected papers shall be invited for a journal edition. Previous proceedings appeared as LNCS 980 and 1117. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES Contributions may be submitted by either sending 6 hard copies to: G. Bilardi, IRREGULAR'97 DEI - Universita di Padova Via G. Gradenigo 6/A I-35131 Padova Italy or e-mailing a postscript file to irregular_submit@art.dei.unipd.it Submissions should consist of: a cover page, with the author's full name, address, fax number, e-mail address, a 100-word abstract and keywords (for electronic submission, this page should be in the form of a separate ascii-only e-mail); an extended abstract describing original research in no more than 12 pages; an optional appendix, with more details to be read/consulted at the discretion of the Program Committee. It is expected that accepted papers will be presented at the conference. Simultaneous submission to other conferences with published proceedings is not allowed. INVITED SPEAKERS * C. Leiserson, MIT Boston * B. Monien, U. Paderborn * F. Meyer auf der Heide, U. Paderborn * A. Nicolau, UC Irvine * J. Roman, U. of Bordeaux VENUE Paderborn is a beautiful medieval town in the East of Northrine-Westphalia and a leading German center for Computer Technology, easily accesible by plane, train and car.
