There is also an interaction between sequences and error-correcting codes. The purpose of this series of international conferences is to bring together experts from different areas, and to bridge advances in different areas. The first international conference on sequences and their applications will be held from December 14 to December 17 of 1998 at the National University of Singapore. The final proceedings of this conference are expected to be published in book form by Elsevier or Springer-Verlag. Detailed information about this conference can be found in the conference web page at http://www.iscs.nus.edu.sg/~dingcs/seta98.html. Original papers on all aspects of sequences and their applications are solicited. Topics of this conference include, but are not limited to, the following: PART I: APPLICATIONS # Sequences for ranging systems # Sequences for radar systems # Sequences for spread spectrum communication systems # Sequences for multiple-terminal system identification # Sequences for code-division multiple-access communications systems # Sequences for global positioning systems # Sequences for stream ciphers PART II: THEORY # Sequences and error-correcting codes # Sequences and number theory # Sequences and geometry # Sequences and combinatorics # Sequences and finite fields # Sequences and Galois rings # Sequences and graph theory # Sequences and algebraic function fields # Sequences and automata # Randomness of sequences # Pseudorandom number generators Papers submitted must describe original, previously unpublished work, and should not be simultanously submitted for publication elsewhere. A postscript version of an extended abstract should be sent to dingcs@iscs.nus.edu.sg via email. At the same time five hardcopies of the extended abstract with no more than 10 pages (A4, 11point) should be sent to: Cunsheng Ding Department of Information Systems and Computer Science The National University of Singapore Lower Kent Ridge Road, Singapore 119260 Fax: (65) 779 4580 Tel: (65) 874 2904 Email: dingcs@iscs.nus.edu.sg Submission by: August 10, 1998 Notification by: October 2, 1998 Extended abstract for pre-proceedings by: November 8, 1998 Final version of paper for the final proceedings will be asked after the conference The second announcement will be available and those interested in the conference should contact Cunsheng Ding or the Conference Secretary for a copy of the second anouncement.
