April 1998 Humboldt University Berlin First Announcement The last decade has witnessed major developments in the field of Discrete Mathematics. One aim of this conference is to bring together scientists from different areas within this rapidly expanding subject. It is also intended to give research students the opportunity to meet some leading experts in the field. Furthermore the "Richard-Rado-Prize in Discrete Mathematics" for an outstanding PhD thesis on Discrete Mathematics will be awarded by the Discrete Mathematics activity group of the German Mathematical Society for the first time. o Main Speakers Bela Bollobas (University of Memphis and Cambridge University) Johan Hastad (Royal Institute of Technology Stockholm) Victor L. Klee (University of Washington) William T. Trotter (Arizona State University).
